This Privacy Policy explains how HexTurf processes personal data when you use HexTurf.
HexTurf is a location based mobile game where users move in the real world, capture hexagonal zones, earn points, play in teams and earn or use in game tokens.
By creating an account, you confirm that you have read this Privacy Policy. For certain features, such as analytics, advertising, rewarded video ads and optional feature update emails, we ask for separate consent.

2. Personal Data We Collect
We only collect personal data that is necessary to operate, protect, improve and develop HexTurf.
Account and Profile Data
When you create an account, we may process: name or username, email address, encrypted password or login ID from an external login provider, selected team or faction, profile picture if you choose to upload one, language/region/app settings, account creation date, accepted terms versions and consent records, feature update email preference, email communication consent status.
Game Data
When you play HexTurf, we may process data about: zones you attempt or have captured, time of capture, your team, points/rankings/streaks/statistics, cooldowns and locked zones, tokens/token history/in-game purchases, suspected misuse such as spoofing or cheating.
Location Data
Since HexTurf is a location based game, the app processes location data when you use the map and when you attempt to capture a zone. We may process your approximate or precise location, the hexagonal zone you are currently in, the time of a location check, and technical checks used to detect manipulation of location data. As a general rule, we store zone IDs and game events rather than exact coordinates.
Technical Data
When you use HexTurf, we may process: IP address, device model, operating system, app version, language and region, logs, crash reports, security events, session data.
Analytics Data
If you consent to analytics, we may process information about how the app is used such as active users, sessions, features used, user flows, retention, technical performance and effects of campaigns.
Advertising Data and Rewarded Video Ads
If you choose to watch a rewarded video ad, we and our advertising partners may process: that you chose to watch a video ad, whether the ad was completed, which reward you should receive, technical advertising identifiers, consent status, device information and technical logs. Personalized ads are shown only if you have given consent.
Feature Update Emails
If you opt in, HexTurf may send you emails about new features, product updates, events and game-related news. You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in the email or in the app's privacy settings.
iOS Launch Waitlist
If you enter your email address on our website to be told when the iOS version is released, we process: your email address, the date you signed up, the fact that the signup came from our website, and the exact consent wording shown to you at that moment. We do not collect a name, an IP address or any advertising identifier for this, and you do not need a HexTurf account to sign up.
This address is used for one purpose only: to send you a single email when the iOS version reaches the App Store. It is not used for feature update emails, marketing, profiling or anything else, and it is never shared or sold. You can have it deleted at any time by writing to support@hexturf.app, and it is deleted once the launch email has been sent.
3. Why We Process Personal Data
We process personal data to: create and manage your account, allow you to play HexTurf, show the map and determine whether you are inside a zone, register captures/points/cooldowns/rankings, manage tokens and rewards, prevent cheating and misuse, provide support, send important service messages, send feature update emails if opted in, send a single iOS launch notice to people who asked for one, analyze and improve the app, show ads and manage rewarded video ads, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal Basis
Contract: We process data necessary to provide HexTurf under the Terms of Service, including account data, login, game data, capture logic, points, tokens and core location functionality.
Legitimate Interest: We may process certain data for security, anti-cheat, troubleshooting, internal statistics and protection of the service.
Consent: We use consent where required, for example for analytics, personalized advertising, advertising identifiers, non-essential cookies, rewarded video ads, optional email communication and the iOS launch waitlist. You can withdraw consent at any time in the privacy settings.
Legal Obligation: In some cases we need to process or retain data to comply with legal obligations.
5. Location Data and Safety
We do not use location data for purposes other than those described in this Privacy Policy. We do not sell your location data. We do not share your precise location with other players unless you activate a feature that clearly requires this.
6. Ghost Mode and Visibility
If HexTurf offers a feature that hides or limits your visibility, some technical data may still be processed for the game to work. Ghost Mode limits what other users can see but does not stop all location processing.
7. Cookies, Local Storage and Similar Technologies
Necessary technologies are used to keep you logged in, store security tokens, remember basic app settings and enable core game functionality. Non-essential technologies are used only where there is a valid legal basis such as consent.
8. Who We Share Data With
We may share personal data with service providers including: cloud providers, database and hosting providers, analytics providers, advertising partners, crash reporting providers, payment providers, email providers, support systems and security providers. We do not sell personal data to third parties.
9. Transfers Outside the EU and EEA
If personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. How Long We Keep Data
Account data is kept for as long as the account exists. Game data and location-related capture events are kept as long as needed for statistics, rankings, history, security and game functionality. Raw location data is deleted or aggregated as soon as it is no longer needed. Consent logs are kept as long as needed to demonstrate valid consent. iOS launch waitlist addresses are deleted once the launch email has been sent, or earlier on request.
11. Your Rights
You have the right to: receive information about how we process your data, request access to your personal data, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion of data, request restriction of processing, object to certain processing, request data portability, withdraw consent, and file a complaint with the relevant data protection authority.

12. Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your account. When an account is deleted, we delete or anonymize personal data that is no longer needed. Certain data may be retained for security, legal obligations or anti-cheat investigations.
13. Children and Young Users
HexTurf is not intended for children under the age of 13 without parental or guardian approval. Special safeguards may be needed for younger users.
14. Security
We protect personal data through encrypted communication, access controls, logging of administrative access, password hashing, limited access to production data, backups and monitoring of suspicious activity.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. In the event of significant changes, we will inform you in the app or by email. The latest version is always available in the app.
